Excellent Meal!! Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere We fell into Oliver's after a nearby restaurant could not accommodate us. How fortuitous! Our meal was outstanding and the service was good too. We all enjoyed the delicious sea food dishes and interesting wines and the bakeapple cheesecake was an unexpected delight! Wonderful evening of dining! Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere Dined here recently with 3 other friends. The appetizer, French Onion Soup, was tasty (not salty, as is often the case in many restaurants) with wonderful dense bread that held up in the broth and didn't turn to mush; wonderful to take away the winter chill. My main course was a 10oz. striploin served with shrimp, all cooked to my liking (med. rare steak) and the shrimp was not overcooked, but perfectly grilled. The entree was served with a well-baked, flaky potato and a nice taste of fresh turnip, carrot and broccoli. We enjoyed a 2007 Australian White Wine (Villa Maria) that was quiet agreeable with our food choices. For dessert, I enjoyed a superb traditional Creme Brulee... was the perfect amount, was creamy and cooked to perfection with the typical melted-sugar crust and served with a dollop of fresh cream. Our server, Sean I believe was his name, was friendly, attentive and very accomodating. Myself and my 3 other dinner companions had no complaints whatsoever. GREAT RESTAURANT/EXCELLENT STAFF AND SERVICE Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere Hi! I have been going to OLIVER'S for several years. It is my choice of restaurants in St.John's...bar none. I have enjoyed nothing but the best in menu selection, and excellent staff, and service, ever since I have been going there. My relatives and friends say the same thing. So, when I see negative comments, like the one entitled Piss Poor Service, I wonder what side of the bed that person got out in the morning. Keep up the great work guys at OLIVER'S! Piss Poor Service Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere Isn't everyone's money the same? Seems like that's not the case here. Unless you are a 50+ and a regular with reserved table, expect to be treated like an untouchable here. Avoid. another fav! Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere Now this place is comfy, its like being at home. When i want to just relax and have a hearty pasta or some good seafood this is my second home. Always guarantees a good nights sleep after. My wife always makes me go there for dinner on fridays and i am so thankful she enjoys it as much as i do. Surprisingly Good Overall Food Value Service Atmosphere I stepped into this cozy bistro last weekend thinking of getting a sandwich or something simple and was completely surprised to find an eclectic menu that offered all kinds of interesting dishes. I opted for the Chicken and Broccoli Crepes which were really tasty and unusual. The atmosphere is pretty cozy and the service was top-notch as well. I will definitely be going back!
